My Journey From Illness To Wellness
WORK TOWARDS YOUR SOUL
More than 10 years ago, I started on a healing journey that transformed every aspect of my life, because it transformed me. Researches say, the body replaces itself with a largely new set of cells every seven years, and it definitely feels like every part of me was renewed.
It’s not easy for me to explain what was so off with my life up until that point. From the outside looking in, I was living a great life but deep down inside I never left like I belonged. I never felt free to express myself, so I just ignored all the cracks until eventually one day I broke.
What triggered my healing journey was a first burnout I experienced (I had 3) that started with severe vertigo and ended with being bed bound for 6 months. This was my first real awakening and the point in life when I realized that all the beautiful pictures I was trying to paint were finally showing me how ugly they really were.
I share some of my journey on how I healed the burnouts in the blog post on how to manage stress and heal the adrenals.
I want to share with you the sacrifices and investments I needed to make in order to heal beyond the physical body, because one thing was very clear, my body broke because emotionally, mentally and spiritually I wasn’t aligned with myself. And, I needed to find my way back to me.
THE WISDOM OF MY HEALING JOURNEY
Our physical body starts to create illness when we block the flow of energy. In my case, I was blocking my feelings and self expression and holding extreme stress in. Invest in a professional who can understand you and who can offer support on your journey. I spent thousand of $ seeking help from various practitioners, from naturopathic doctors, energy healers, hypnotherapists (the list is long) because I decided that I was going to be the greatest investment I ever made. Every single one helped me understand ME & taught me how to heal me.
In order to heal our physical body, we have to consciously choose to fuel it. Nutrition, supplements, exercise are so critical to our well being. Our existence depends on it. If we want to follow the path of our soul, we need a healthy body to carry us there. I started eating the right foods for MY body, taking supplements that my body needed and exercised by mostly walking because that’s what my body said is all it could take.
Our emotions are a pretty good indicator of how aligned we are with our self. When we are in this alignment we feel deep happiness and satisfaction internally. It’s the energy our soul sends out when it feels at peace. Connecting with my soul and tapping deep into who I truly am, was no easy task. We often find that the things that are truly aligned with us are very far from what we build around us. We are often asked to break down the walls of protection we built so we can create what we truly desire, not what others approve of. (Our emotions are also a good indicator if there is something off with our physical body to keep on checking in with yourself.)
Our soul is loud and it will scream until we can no longer deny its voice. There is no quick fix on the healing journey. There is no magical wand we can wave around and make everything better overnight. It takes determination, motivation and courage to break down your walls and start rebuilding from scratch. For me this meant walking away from friendships, relationships, jobs, and most importantly toxic patterns I build because they were not serving my highest good. They never were. They were the quick fix.
I could write a book on all of my experiences, and perhaps one day I will. But for now, I’ll leave you with this:
If you’re going through a rough time, focus on today. Don’t stress over what’s going to happen tomorrow, because a new day always brings new possibilities.
Invest in your health and wellness. Buy organic, buy natural, buy local. You can wear last season’s shoes but you cannot put a price tag on your inner peace & wellness.
Take time for introspection. Go on a daily walk. Meditate. Combine those two together. Create time to connect with you so you can hear yourself. What do you need and want.
Set boundaries, with friends, co-workers and especially family. You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. You don’t have to go anywhere where you don’t want to. It’s okay to just do what you want & not feel guilty about it.
Find a way to express yourself and get your needs across. We often blow up when we hold things in for too long. If you’re having a bad day, announce it. “I’m having a bad day. Everyone, leave me alone. Talk to you tomorrow.”
You do not constantly have to go against YOU in order to please someone else. Take care of you and your basic needs first. When we’re healing remember this is the time when we hold the light. You need your own love and nurturing first. When we heal, then we can share it with others.
Our healing journey is never ending. There is always another layer to heal. Another aspect of self to face. As we gain more tools, the journey does get easier. We learn who to turn to, how to face it, how to let it go, how to breathe through it all.
My journey took me to a door of a 100 year old doctor who always talked about the soul journey and how important it was. The first time I met him, he tapped me on my shoulder and said “Don’t worry, you’ll be okay.” It was the first time that I believed it. He told me that I have the energy of a powerful healer, and one day all of my experiences would finally make sense. And, he was right.
I understand now that I had to go through my own complicated journey so I can learn and gain the necessary wisdom in order to help others. When I followed my passion to help others, it led me to my purpose of teaching others how to heal.
Today, I work with clients globally and help them heal their body, mind & soul.
Love & light,
B.
